Abstract ePix is a novel class of ASICs architectures based on a common platform optimized for the processing of signals in second generation LCLS cameras. The first years of the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) operation have shown the need to support a wide variety of experiments with a correspondent variety of detectors. Modular scalable detectors with dedicated interface are a key factor to provide time and cost effective cameras, which are easy to adapt and support.  The platform architecture is composed of a random access analog matrix of pixel with global shutter, fast parallel column readout, and dedicated sigma-delta analog to digital converters per column. Based on this platform a class of front-end ASICs and several camera modules, meeting different requirements, can be developed designing specific pixel architectures. This approach reduces development time and expands the possibility of integration of detector modules in size, shape or functionality as different modules could be assembled in the same camera. ePix-100 is the first instance of this class and is optimized for ultra low noise applications. It has 50µmx50µm pixels arranged in a 384x352 matrix, a dynamic range of 100 photons at 8keV and a noise level of 50e- r.m.s. Test results of the ASIC prototype are here reported.
